Reflections (27/07)

Angeline Tsui:
We had a campus tour around Stanford University today. I was amazed by the size of the campus. It was enormous and wonderful. We then went on a Scavenger Hunt in the afternoon. It was challenging but it was fun. We had a great trip today.

Annie Xia:
I was still very tired from our arrival! The campus tour and Scavenger Hunt were kind of wake-up call for me. From the enjoyable activities today, I learnt to persevere till the end of the game. As long as we do not give up, there will be a way out. Working collaboratively, we were able to finish most of the tasks on time finally.

Beatrice Lai:
After the campus tour, the Scavenger Hunt started at about 2:00 p.m. With the assistance of the helpful professors and students in Stanford, we were able to complete most of the tasks. It is a enjoyable day.
Candace Kwan:
Sometimes, what we truly need is the ability to work as a team. I think today we really showed this because we did division of labor: for example, I was checking the map, while Candace Lo took photos and Vicky carried the dog, our DIY mascot. Overall it was good although we sometimes got lazy and ended up guessing the answers to the clues randomly! I wasn’t ever expecting a scavenger hunt that would end up educational yet fun at the same time.

Candace Lo:
Today I was in charge of taking photos, and I really enjoyed it because it was a little bit artistic and I can learn how to frame shots nicely in a different environment – very sunny and no clouds at all. However, it was very tiring sometimes as the campus was really large and the map is a bit difficult to read. Luckily, we always bumped into our fellow IYC campers that we were able to have a good exchange of opinions and ideas about the clues. With good team work, we completed more or less 20 tasks in one and a half hour.

Cheryl Yuen:
I am glad to be here at the Stanford University. We explored the facilities and campus of Stanford today. Although the trip was exhausting, I had a lot of fun today. Besides, we had a lot of delicious meals. The time capsule was wonderful and unforgettable. Overall, I enjoyed a lot when playing the Scavenger Hunt.

Cynthia Yip:
Through joining the activity of scavenger hunt, I learnt to co-operate with my group mates efficiently. Also, I know more about the campus of Stanford University.

Ellian Cheung:
Today, we had a campus tour around Stanford University. I am very amazed by the size of the campus. Although we all were exhausted after the Scavenger Hunt in the afternoon, we became more familiar with the campus after this enjoyable event.

Ingrid Ng:
In the morning, our counsellors took us around the Stanford grounds and showed us buildings, wonderful fountains and a church. After knowing about the region briefly, we went on a scavenger hunt, which was a life-enriching experience. We read maps to learn our way around, and took photos with our mascot dog to show the places where we came to. We even saw some adorable squirrels. Though it was an exhausting journey, we improved our navigation skills and got more familiar with the Stanford campus.

Iris Chang:
Our group participated in the scavenger hunt around Stanford campus. It was exciting, despite the fact that we were very tired at the end. In the activity, I learnt the importance of cooperation, which is essential in times of teamwork.

Janice Sung:
After participating in the scavenger hunt, I became more co-operative through discussing with other group members. My time management was improved as we had to finish the tasks within the time limit. I also learnt more about the campus.

Jessica Chow:
Today is a very enjoyable day. Among all the things we have done today, I enjoyed the campus tour the most. Stephanie and Christine took us to have a look and walk around the Stanford school campus. The school buildings and dorms in Stanford are very beautiful, very antique. What I can say is that Stanford has such a breathtaking school campus and smart students. I hope I can study in this university one day.

Jessie Tsui:
We visited the Stanford campus today and it was so enormous. The campus was great. Not only did we enjoy ourselves in the Scavenger Hunt, but also knew more about the campus. I am looking forward to the programmes in the coming two weeks. I am sure it will be fun and unforgettable.

Kennes Hung:
We were exhausted today but our tiredness was totally paid off. The campus tour helped us to know more about Stanford and the Scavenger Hunt let us be familiarized with the campus. Besides, through talking with friendly students in Stanford, our oral skills were enhanced. Today is an unforgettable day.
Laetitia Wu:
My first impression of Stanford is that it is really huge. The scavenger Hunt enabled me to know more about the Stanford campus. As a group leader, I had also learned a lesson today. I misinterpreted some instructions from the counsellors and teachers and conveyed wrong messages to my team mates. I promise I will be more attentive and responsive from now on.

Larissa Tang:
In the first day in Stanford, we were astonished by the beautiful gardens and plants. In the morning, we toured around the campus and found that Stanford was really a brilliant place to study as it had such a peaceful environment. In the afternoon, we had our scavenger hunt, which was both exciting and meaningful. It was exciting because we could walk in this big campus on our own. It was also meaningful as we could practice how we could co-operate well with our group members.

Linda Cheng:
We toured around the campus and went scavenger hunting today. The environment was entirely new to me and I got the chance to look into different places at the campus. It was enjoyable.

Pinky Kwan:
In our first day in Stanford University, our counsellors led around the campus and introduced the background information of different buildings to us. The environment was relaxing and the buildings were very beautiful. Then we went on a scavenger hunt that we had to run around the campus in order to finish nearly twenty tasks. As Stanford University is really large, we were exhausted. However, we enjoyed the activity because we could find some places only relying on a map. Through this activity, we know more about Stanford’s culture and its campus. We learnt how to co-operate with each other and how to plan our time well.

Rachel Kwan:
I enjoyed a lot during the first day in Stanford. Stanford University is bigger than I expected. There are a lot of facilities. We have a lot of delicious food in every meal. During the school campus tour, we visited the Memorial Church and it was very great. It used hundreds of colors to paint the wall of the Church.

Renee Yeh:
I really enjoy this activity very much, and I believe that it was very fulfilling how our persistence was so strong, even though we are all tired. Personally I wanted to give up sometimes, because of several cramps in my leg that I got, but my team helped me and never left me alone. Several times they were willing to turn back to the dorm because of my pain, and I knew then that I had a team that could succeed in anything.

Rosa Li:
This is the first time to the United States. I find Stanford really a fantastic place. Starting from this very first day of the study tour, I am sure it will be an unforgettable tour to me and I will treasure the chance to learn more.

Selena Leung:
It is the first day staying in Stanford University. It was quite interesting but I felt very tired after playing the scavenger hunt. We had walked around the campus during the morning tour and the scavenger hunt and I found that Stanford is really big. Moreover, the meals we had are quite delicious and I enjoyed it very much.

Stephanie Chow:
In the morning, we were guided to tour around the campus. The activity in the afternoon is the scavenger hunt. It was like an adventure. Relying on maps, we walked around the campus in order to finish nearly twenty tasks. Though tiring, it was enjoyable.

Theodora Yu:
From the experience of the scavenger hunt, I realized that if we are more eager and passionate to exploration and investigation, we will be motivated to discover knowledge and truth, which leads us to become students of the right attitude when solving problems. I will certainly apply what I've gained in this activity in the future, as this will do us much more than good.

Tiffany Tsah:
Today we toured around Stanford campus. I was very astonished about the size of it. It is really a wonderful place to study in. We went on a Scavenger Hunt in the afternoon. Although we hunt under the blazing sun, it was a very enjoyable event.

Valerie Tang:
I learnt much about the history of Stanford University during the Campus Tour. The gorgeous buildings here caught my eyes. I specially had a great time taking photos of the spectacular scenery. Everything was perfect and I look forward to future activities.

Vicky Cheung:
It was very challenging today because for a lot of activities, we need to talk to people that we don’t know in the campus. I really felt very contented when they were willing to help us out in our Scavenger Hunt. I recall the main character Robert Langdon from the book “Da Vinci Code” today as I was just acting like him to complete all the tasks from clue to clue.

Victoria Chan:
Through participating in the activity of scavenger hunt, I learnt more about the school campus. I understood that it is important for us to cooperate with our group mates, and to ask the teachers to clarify whenever we are not sure about what we are going to do. This will help us to solve the problem more quickly.

Victoria Kwok:
I feel very happy to visit the Stanford University campus. I felt very tired after playing scavenger hunt. I was very surprised to find that the campus was far bigger than what I expected. The campus is very beautiful too.
